Cherry icon:
Hold L1 + R1 at the main menu and press Triangle for the indicated manner:
Short press, Short press, Short press, Long press, Long press, Long press, 
Short press, Short press, Short press. You will see a cherry icon in the 
top left corner. 

Chronicle Mode 
Hold L1 + R1 at the main menu and press Triangle for the indicated manner:
Long press, Short press, wait briefly, Short press, Long press, wait briefly, 
Short press, Short press, Short press, wait briefly, Short press, Short press, 
Long press. 

Note: 
Tap the Triangle button for a "short" press
Hold the Triangle button a little bit for a "long" press

Unlock chronicle mode:
Finish the game in Story mode once.
