Medieval 2: Total War cheats and cheat codes for PC

Cheat mode: -
While playing the game hit ~ (tilde) to bring up the console window. Enter
any of the following cheat codes to activate the indicated cheat effect.
Note: All codes are case-sensitive. You have to enter proper, capitalized
family member names, settlement names etc.

Add gold:
Type "add_money ####" as a code at the console, where #### is a number.

Give settlement more population:
Type "add_population (settlement name) ####" as a code at the console.

Auto Win (hit auto Retaliate button). Enter code at the battle scroll:
Type "auto_win (attacker|defender)" as a code at the console.

Reset stuck character:
Type "character_reset" as a code at the console.

Mercenary Monster Ribault to selected settlement or unit:
Type "george" as a code at the console.

Give ancillary to specific general:
Type "give_ancillary (character) (ancillary) (level number)" as a code at
the console.

Give any trait your faction can have to a specific general*:
Type "give_trait (character) (trait) (level number)" as a code at the console.

Mercenary Rocket Launcher to selected settlement or unit:
Type "houston" as a code at the console.

Mercenary Monster Bombard to selected settlement or unit:
Type "istanbul" as a code at the console.

Elephants to selected settlement or unit:
Type "madras" as a code at the console.

Move object:
Type "move_character (settler or unit name) (x coordinate) (y coordinate)" as
a code at the console.

Autobuild anything in settlement:
Type "process_cq (settlement name)" as a code at the console.

Elephant Artillery to selected settlement or unit:
Type "rogan" as a code at the console.

Display current coordinates:
Type "show_cursorstat" as a code at the console.

Toggles fog of war:
Type "toggle_fow" as a code at the console.

Elephant Rocketeer to selected settlement or unit:
Type "vindaloo" as a code at the console.

Create unit:
Type "create_unit "(settlement or character)" "(unit ID)" "(amount from 1-5)"
(experience from 1-9)" "(armor from 1-3)" "(weapon from 1-3)" at the console.


* - Use the second name of the character or select the character on the
campaign map, then type for example, give_trait - this "GoodAttacker" 5
or whatever desired trait. This also works for the give_ancillary code.

a "level number", usually ranging from 1 - 5, giving additional
bonuses or penalties.

Note: Always make a backup copy before edit a game file. Locate the
"descr_strat" file in the "medieval ii total war\data\world\maps\campaign\
imperial_campaign" folder. Open with a text editor and find the "unlockable"
string. Copy its contents over the current contents under the "playable"
header, then save the file and run the game.
