When the race announcer says "Get Ready" and the text fading out, hit A.

Cheat codes:
Go to the options screen and enter any of the following codes at the
"Magic Codes". Re-enter the cheat code to disable the cheat effect.
You need enter the codes at each game session. A few codes work only
in Tracks mode.
